kidpowerLittlePicklePressI love to read children’s books both to kids and to myself – and have been delighted and moved by the heartwarming stories, gentle humor, and important messages in the beautiful books published by Little Pickle Press – books that kids cherish and ask me to read or decide to read themselves again and again and again. We are very honored to have Little Pickle as distributors for our Kidpower Safety Comics series.

In addition, as a fundraiser to help support our International Child Protection Advocacy Campaign, Little Pickle Press will donate to Kidpower 25% of any sales of their other wonderful books with the code: KidpowerSafe

Here are a few of my personal favorites:

With charming drawings and a narrative that never misses a beat, the picture book What Does It Mean to Be Safe? provides a reassuring exploration of what could be a difficult subject in a way that is always fun and never scary.

Ripple’s Effect is a great read with sweet illustrations telling the story of  Ripple, a brave dolphin new to an aquarium, uses his smile and quick wits to charm a bullying shark into playing rather than fighting.

Any child who has ever felt “different” or who is sometimes confused by the inconsistencies of their adults will enjoy Spaghetti is Not A Finger Food (and Other Life Lessons). This funny, moving story shows how the hero, Connor, finds his way through the complexities of an eventful school day despite the challenges of thinking very literally and missing social cues.

What Does It Mean to Be Present? is another beautiful picture book with vivid images and examples that reminds the small child in all of us to stay mindful because “life IS a present!” And What Does It Mean to Be Green? gives simple ways even younger children can learn to take care of our earth.

Anyway, I hope you will check out their selections, consider doing some birthday or holiday shopping, and please remember to use the KidpowerSafe code if you decide to buy some books.
