Dr. Harold Johnson, Emeritus Professor of Education, has been a passionate advocate for the well-being of children with disabilities for many years. Currently, he is working to make personal safety a component of the Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) and Individual Education Plans (IEP) of children with disabilities.

Harold is deeply committed to making knowledge about how to protect children of all abilities from bullying, violence, and abuse as widely accessible as possible. He has led the production of the following short videos of interviews describing each of Kidpower’s 7 strategies for keeping children safe and how to apply these concepts to your daily life.

We encourage you to watch these videos and share them with others. As Harold says, “The safety and success of our kids depends on each of us!”

Harold co-produced these videos in collaboration with Kidpower International; Hands and Voices, the largest US advocacy and support organization for families with children who are hard of hearing or deaf, and the Described and Captioned Media Program (DCMP).

I want to thank Harold for his boundless commitment to children, especially those who are most vulnerable due to special needs, and for his enthusiasm about helping us to make Kidpower’s knowledge much more widely available.
