Please donate! Help us provide resources and training to protect the safety and wellbeing of the LGBTQIA+ community

Kidpower has championed the safety of the LGBTQIA+ community since we began in 1989. The skills we teach prepare people take charge of their safety with their families, in their schools and workplaces, and during Pride events. We teach parents and allies ways to empower LGBTQIA+ youth – and to protect them as they are still growing and developing skills to protect themselves.

Your gift will help us to provide hope and skills to people all over the world who are feeling threatened, isolated, and unsafe because of their sexual orientation, gender expression, or gender identity.

Thanks to the support of our generous donors, we now have a FREE Pridepower Safety Skills Course created by and for people in the LGBTQIA+ community for teens and adults.

Donations to our Scholarship Fund make it possible for us to ensure that we never turn people away for lack of money. We need funding for:

  • Scholarships for individuals and groups
  • Producing a special online course about Safety at Pride Events
  • Marketing and promotion so people can find our resources

Here’s what people are saying:

“Kidpower Executive Director Irene van der Zande provided critical support for the hugely successful #Day1 Campaign, created by the Tyler Clementi Foundation to prevent bullying before it starts. We greatly appreciate Kidpower’s expertise in helping us create a #Day1 pledge that is strong, clear, and inclusive.”

~ Sean Kosofsky, Former Executive Director, Tyler Clementi Foundation

“Kidpower services are strategically aligned with the needs of our youth, who deserve self-protection skills – so they are more prepared to take charge of their safety in age-appropriate ways in the face of bullying, harassment, discrimination, and threats to their physical and emotional safety – and who also deserve safety leadership and advocacy skills they can use in their civic and community efforts as citizens, student leaders, clients, and consumers in legal, medical, legislative, educational, and other community contexts.”

~ Roz Keith, Executive Director Stand With Trans

“Every person who is likely to be the target of identity-based attack deserves access to this training. Kidpower skills are crucial for the emotional and physical safety of transgender and gender-diverse people, who face a higher rate of bullying, harassment, and abuse at all ages than their cisgender peers. As a workshop participant, l’ve seen firsthand that Kidpower is culturally competent, and effective.”

~ Gavin Grimm, ACLU National Board Member
