Thanks to supporters like YOU, I have powerful tools to protect my students with disabilities who are vulnerable to emotional abuse, and my students have learned to speak up for the help they deserve!
“Sixteen-year-old Morgan is on the autism spectrum and has a family with many challenges. My heart sank when he said in a trembling voice, “I need help to throw away the words, ‘I wish you had never been born.’ My mom keeps saying that to me, and it hurts.
I thanked him for remembering the Kidpower lesson to keep asking until you get help. We used Kidpower’s amazing emotional safety tools to practice purging these cruel words from his heart and protect his feelings by saying, “I am proud of who I am!” After just a few minutes, Morgan was sitting taller, smiling, and looking happy for the first time in many weeks.
Yet I knew more was needed. I met with Morgan’s mother, and I used Kidpower’s intervention tools to explain, with compassion, how I understood she felt overwhelmed by Morgan’s situation, but how these words said in frustration were harming her son.
Thank you, Kidpower, for giving me tools to help stop the emotional abuse that was taking away Morgan’s joy!“ ~ Arnold M., Special Education Teacher
Right now, we have the power to stop much of tomorrow’s abuse with greater awareness, action, and skills. Just knowing how to tell and keep telling can make a world of difference in the safety of our kids. Please make a donation to Kidpower today!
Your gift to Kidpower helps to provide safety skills training to kids of all ages and their adults in families, schools, and organizations, empowering them to take charge of their safety.
