Over the years, thousands of upset worried parents have reached out to Kidpower for help, saying, “My child is miserable because of bullying. What should we do?”

Many of the following resources were inspired by our response to this urgent question. To prevent and stop bullying, we need awareness so we know what is happening with our kids, understanding about the problems bullying causes and how to help, and skills for intervention, advocacy, teaching personal safety, and creating positive social climates.

Because October is Bullying Prevention Month, I want to remind you about some of our recommended books and resources in our free online Library including a video by teens for teens, podcasts to discuss with young people, and articles for adults.

These books from Kidpower and our partners take a positive approach to addressing bullying for young people of different ages.

Ripple’s Effects is a joyful picture book about a stopping bullying success story. The important story, colorful humorous drawings, and vivid language make this book a treasure that kids will want to read over and over again. To contribute towards Kidpower’s work in stopping bullying and keeping kids safe, Little Pickle Press is donating 25% of the sale of all its books that use this promo code at checkout: KidpowerSafe.

Starring Celia is a compelling and heartwarming story for preteen girls that deals with hard issues like bullying in a hopeful and empowering way. Written by Kidpower Instructor and Glitter and Razz Productions Co-Founder Allison Kenny, the book with humor and insight describes Celia’s experiences in a GoGirls summer camp that uses Kidpower techniques as part of their program.

Our popular Safety Comics series for Younger Kids, Older Kids, and Teens  all show how to use “People Safety” skills to stop bullying with entertaining cartoons, social stories, and simple practices.

Our cartoon-illustrated 15 People Safety Group Lessons: Teaching Children Ages 5 to 14 to Be Safe With People book includes how to introduce and practice our Positive Peer Program for preventing and stopping bullying.

Walk in Another’s Shoes: Teens Speak Out About Bullying is a free five-minute video produced by our Kidpower of Colorado Teen Advisory Board.
